HI, I'M CARA.

I'm a seasoned communications professional with nearly 30 years of experience in everything from video production and editing, to copy writing and grant writing, to graphic design and voice over work. A storyteller at heart, I have a passion for learning about what makes your organization special and developing strategic communication solutions that engage and motivate audiences.

My mission.

Simply put, your mission is my mission. After many years working in the nonprofit sector, I learned firsthand how challenging it can be for nonprofits to devote time and resources to developing and implementing strategic communications. When a former employer reached out to me and asked for help filling in the gaps in their communications capacity, I realized just what value I can bring to others in the same situation. Now I offer consultant services on a contract basis primarily to small businesses and non-profits that lack the capacity needed to develop and execute their communication intiatives.

Downstreet and Good Samaritan Haven redeveloped the Twin City Motel into transitional housing for people experiencing homelessness. I created this video to communicate about the project and the grand opening celebration.

One of my final projects at VHCB as their Communications Director in 2025 was the redevelopment of their outdated website (previously developed in 2017). After experiencing exponential growth, the organization had become more complex and needed new navigation, and updated look and feel, and improved organization of resources and publications. I lead the process through project management, conceptual design, graphic design, and copy writing.
